Silent drill unit wins CET latest pipe deal in Turkey

TURKISH water supplier KOSKI of Konya has awarded CET Insaat Ltd Sti (CET) of Istanbul a contract to install 540 m of HDPE pipes of up to 400 mm in diameter in the town. Founded in 1988, CET is now a leading pipe-laying contractor in Turkey, specialising in microtunnelling and other trenchless pipe-laying systems. CET's management decided over the past year to expand its trenchless capabilities by buying a horizontal directional drilling (HDD) machine. After extensive comparisons, it bought a Swiss system, the Terra-Jet 6015 D, which can complete guided bores in lengths of up to 400 m for bores up to 650 mm in diameter, depending on ground conditions.The 94 kW turbo-diesel engine produces a torque of 6,000 Nm, a pullback force of 151 and a drilling fluid volume of 185 litres/min.With the optional Terra-Rock air percussion head, the Terra-Jet 6015 D may also be used in stony and rocky ground. It low rotation speeds (only 1,850 rpm), the machine operates in a 'super silent' mode. The noise emission 7 m away is only 70 dB(A), making it one of the most silent HDD machines in the world. Its intelligent hydraulic system means this HDD machine works at 25 percent more efficiently than conventional units of this type.
