Filters Clean Up Sulfolane Process

The Sapref refinery in South Africa - co-owned by Shell SA and BP SA-uses a sulfolane process to recover aromatics from hydrocarbon mixtures. The site includes a fuels refinery as well as a base oil refinery. When high particle loadings began to plague the process, the refinery turned to East Hills, N.Y.-based Pall Corp for a filtration solution.
