Acquisition - Daimler and European Bank for Reconstruction and Development to extend shareholding in Kamaz

Russia/Germany - Daimler AG, EBRD (European Bank for Reconstruction and Development) and Troika Dialog (one of Russia's leading investment banks), have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to strengthen Daimler's role in the Russian truck builder, Kamaz, through the acquisition of additional shares held by Troika Dialog. Daimler said that under this plan, it and the EBRD were negotiating to acquire a 5% stake in Kamaz. The acquisitions, said Daimler, would be made in parallel and closely coordinated. Daimler AG would increase its holding in Kamaz by 1% to 11%; the remaining 4% would be bought by the EBRD. Daimler Trucks began a strategic partnership with Kamaz in December 2008, when Daimler acquired a 10% stake in Kamaz.
