Western European Market down 40%

Western Europe - The market for commercial trucks (3.5t gvw and above) in the traditional 17 countries of Western Europe for the first six months of 2009 fell 37% from 427,801 units to 269,318 units, according to figures provided courtesy of Italian truck builder, Iveco SpA of Turin. Demand in all segments has fallen dramatically since the autumn of last year. The light commercial vehicle sector fell by nearly 36% from 242,860 units in the first six months of 2008 to 156,127 units in the first six months of this year.
