Stonemaster - a new lightweight steel tipper body from Thompsons

UK - Claiming to have as much as 70% of the UK rigid tipper market, Croydon-based Thompsons UK Ltd has launched its latest tipper body, the Thompsons' Stonemaster, which it claims, is the lightest ever steel tipper body from the group. The Stonemaster is designed to provide a 20 tonnes pay load with the majority of standard specification 8×4 chassis, stated Simon Shields, Thompsons' director at Tip-Ex 2013 held in Harrowgate at the end of May. Purpose-designed for moving stone and aggregates, Stonemaster combines the strength of steel with a high pay-load capacity, said Shields, adding that its design focus was to slot in nicely between its heavy-duty Loadmaster body (used for muck shifting and site clearance) and its aluminium Sandmaster (used for delivering sand and gravel). Furthermore, compared with alloy bodies, Stonemaster is less expensive to buy, easier and cheaper to maintain, stronger and much more versatile in the loads it can carry, said Shields.
