Doosan building US plant for CNG and HCNG engines

South Korea / USA - Doosan Infracore America, a subsidiary of Doosan Infracore of Seoul, South Korea, is building a new engine plant capable of producing a thousand units a year at the company's North American headquarters in Suwannee, Georgia, USA. At APTA 2008 in San Diego, last month, representatives of the company advised Truck & Bus Builder that it planned to build an 11-litre engine for specialty applications such as the transit bus market, heavy duty street sweepers and rubbish trucks. The engine on display is Doosan's dedicated compressed natural gas (CNG) and hydrogen compressed natural gas (HCNG) engine (GK12TI). This is a six-cylinder vertical in-line spark ignition engine.
