New plant signals Nova Bus' re-entry into US transit market

Canada / USA - Nova Bus of St-Eustache, Quebec, Canada, a Volvo Bus Corporation subsidiary, is constructing a new bus assembly plant in Plattsburgh, New York, that is expected to begin production in the second half of 2009. The US manufacturing operation is to extend to 140,000sq ft and enable Nova Bus to comply with 'Buy America' Federally-funded transportation rules (60% of the parts and labour costs must be born in the US). The new plant is expected to create up to 300 new jobs and to re-establish Nova Bus as a key player in the US transit bus market. (Previously, prior to the closure of its two former US plants in Roswell, New Mexico and Schenectady, New York, around the turn of the Millennium, it competed in this market segment.)
