Netherlands - After an absence of some three and a half years, the Dutch commercial vehicle show in the RAI, Amsterdam, last month, resumed where it had left off in terms of novelties and inventiveness in meeting market demand with suitable products. On show were refrigerated trailers from Van Eck and Heiwo with electrical cooling units being powered using solar energy and axles fitted with dynamos. Scania used the show to launch a parallel biodiesel electric hybrid truck (see page 1 of this issue), Ginaf its latest electric truck and first Euro 6 compliant all-wheel-drive 8×8 truck. Knapen Trailers introduced a sheeting system that has been five years in development and Kraker Trailers a new modular moving floor trailer called K-Force; a new factory is under construction for this model with plans to sell outside Europe. Both heavy-duty lump load trailer specialists, Nooteboom and Broshuis, exhibited their latest trailer designs. More details of the aforementioned product launches and other key developments follow.
