In a field experiment in 1991-92 at Shika, Nigeria, Macrotyloma uniflorum was given 0, 40, 80 or 120 kg P2O5/ha, and cut 6, 9, 12 or 15 weeks after sowing (WAS). Leaf and stem DM yields (2.8 and 2.3 t/ha, respectively) were highest with 80 kg P2O5/ha. Total DM yield was in the range 1.9-5.1 t/ha. The leaf (2.9 t/ha) and stem (2.6 t/ha) DM yields were highest at 12 and 15 WAS, respectively. The total DM yields were lowest (2.3 t/ha) and highest (5.3 t/ha) at 6 and 12 WAS, respectively. Plant N content was higher in 6-week-old plants and plants given 80 kg P2O5/ha. Plant P content increased with increasing P application, and was highest in 9-week-old plants.
