IN RECENT MONTHS GOVERNMENT agencies in the United States and Europe awarded two US tyre makers several grants to aid their development work on tyre-related fuel efficiency projects. The beneficiaries, Goodyear Tire & Rubber and CooperTire & Rubber, are approaching the challenge of eliminating excess fuel consumption from two quite different directions.
