A greater understanding of high friction surfacing may revive the once popular highway maintenance technique. Specialist contractors now lay a fifth of the quantity of high friction surfacing compared to just four years ago. However one specialist contractor is determined to reverse falling interest in the road safety material by adopting a new approach to its specification and application. Eurovia Specialist Treatments insists high friction surfacing is applied cold during summer months only and is always specified on a substrate of excellent quality. The company has also invested in a dedicated machine to spray the surfacing on to the road in an efficient fashion, rather than using traditional hand applications.
