Prospects look good for reopening second Brighton line

Campaigners hoping to see additional rail capacity created between London and one of the south coast's principal cities are beginning to get their voices heard, reports Jon Masters. Commuters on the south coast may soon be celebrating as proposals for an alternative rail route to the capital are added to England's long term pipeline of infrastructure plans. The project, known as Brighton Main Line 2 (BML2), is unlikely to become a reality for some time yet. But several developments point to it rising as a priority for the South East rail network.
