South East schemes struggle onwards

Two vital trunk road improvement schemes have been packaged together in Sussex, but while work progresses on one, the other has been delayed as a regional priority. Jon Masters reports. Political decisions have been granting motorists few favours in East and West Sussex, although near Lewes on the south coast, one accident and congestion blackspot is nearly gone. The A27 Southerham to Beddingham improvement will finish later this summer, while to the west, A23 users will wait another three years for work to start between Handcross and Warninglid.
