Highway and transportation services have developed a great deal, mirrored by the evolution of Amey -now an 'Integrated Services' supplier. Reviewing the progress of Amey gives a snapshot of developments within a large section of UK transportation and now is a good time to view the company's position. Amey - one of IHT's Corporate Partners - has recently restructured to suit how it serves its clients, which, in the highway sector at least, is still developing. Amey has changed enormously since the mid 1990s when the company's most readily recognised brand was probably Amey Construction. Amey signed its last conventional road construction contract -for the A50 Meir Tunnel project in Stoke -in 1994. Later it would add Amey Rail, Amey Ventures and Infrastructure Services among others to its group of subsidiaries as the company focused on markets developing for long term maintenance and operation of assets.
