Kent is one of the first counties to offer speed awareness courses as an alternative to penalty points to motorists caught speeding. Transportation Professional reporter Martin Cooper took up the offer and says he is now a completely reformed driver. We have probably all been guilty of speeding at one time or another. Whether we are late for work, an appointment or just not paying attention, the ease with which modern cars accelerate makes speeding extremely easy. Quite a lot of us get 'caught' by speed cameras, it seems, and when the flash goes off and you see it in your mirror, you know that, almost inevitably, a letter will arrive informing you that you have transgressed, a ￡60 fine is due and fixed penally points will be added to your licence.
