Central Government is developing a low carbon strategy for transport and planners at all levels are likely to face new challenges. Jon Masters analyses the climate change issue for transportation. Part way through a report within an update from the Department for Transport comes a pie chart that says much about the issue of transportation and climate change. The pie - representing total CO2 emissions from passenger transport in Britain - has nine slices and the biggest slice, taken by commuting, is only 24% of the whole.
