Let Cats Be Cats: Understand and educate clients about cats' preferred environments

THE POPULARITY OF THE CAT as a pet has led to many benefits for the cat, including a safer and longer life. But is it a better life? Most of our feline patients are beloved family members, yet cats live in inadequate environments where they cannot express their natural behaviors. The problem occurs not out of malice but rather a lack of understanding of the cat and its needs. Despite our love and compassion for the cat, misunderstanding of the feline species and its needs often results in the surrender or euthanasia of pet cats, sickness behavior, obesity, feline boredom, and stress.
