Many of you are probably familiar with the term "Inland Marine," or my own preferredterminology, "Contractor's Equipment" insurance. "Marine" insurance came into existence hundreds of years ago with the intent to insure property while far away from its owner, in a boat, on the ocean and in the care of the boat's crew. The concern was the boat's cargo being lost at sea in a storm, or the boat and property being seized by pirates. Roll forward in time. Much of our insurance concerns are no longer focused only on property at sea, so we added the word "Inland" to the Marine definition.
