摘要

Aconnection has been shown between an employee's health and the cost of a workers' compensation claim. As an employee's health risk increases, so does the potential cost of a work-related injury.1 A 2007 Duke University study found that as the weightand body mass index (BMI) of the injured worker increased, the lost workdays and medical claim costs greatly increased as well.2 The results clearly show that workers with a normal BMI had significantly fewer lost workdays as well as a significant decrease in total claim cost.
