As a younger man, with more enthusiasm than commonsense, I spent many cold and often wet nights fishing the Brisbane Waters estuary system for the elusive jewfish. In fact, those fish proved to be very, very elusive. Either that, or I just wasn't thatvery good at catching them After countless hours of catching live baits and sitting there just waiting for the big moment, eventually one night it happened and my first jewie was bagged at a weight of 11 kg. However, that wasn't the end of story. Success only made matters worse, as many more nights were put in, chasing the local jewfish.
