Just three hours' drive west of Melbourne is where you'll find the fishing town of Portland. Renowned for its world-class bluefin tuna fishery, Portland has a whole lot to offer the travelling or weekend angler. In the 19th century, Portland became avery important fishing Port for the town and Melbourne after a connecting railway was built. The main catch then was barracouta, salmon and crayfish, which are found in close around Lawrence Rocks. Today, you can still see the Cray boats working when heading offshore.
