Alvey Deep Sea Winches

We were anchored over a bommie 60m below us on the Great Barrier Reef, some 50 nautical miles northeast from Port Douglas. I had a big hit and started the grim fight of bringing what proved to be a 10kg Chinaman fish to the surface on my Shimano TLD-20 reel. At the rear of the deck, Allan Leighton was winding madly on one of the two Alvey Reef Queen deck winches fitted on the boat. The big fish was giving me all it had and even on the 50lb Fins braid it was a struggle to bring it to the surface.
