The big news for 2014 is we're finally seeing the demise of the classic Aussie built Holden/Ford sedan that once dominated the Aussie roads. Ford has signalled it will stop all local production by mid-2016 whilst General Motors Holden will stop in 2017.This means we'll see only another year or two of the big cars being made here and pretty much after that the car market will be totally dominated by imported cars.Of course, the writing has been on the wall with local manufactured cars for some time and it's only been government fleet purchase, which has kept the whole thing going. Meanwhile, the Aussie car buyer has gone for either the smaller compact cars, or aSUV wagon style vehicle. Indeed, the typical family vehicle today is a SUV style vehicle, or a people-mover van!
