DASH for SPACE

In the rush to add more electronics the average trailer boat is running out of dash space to fit it all. Recently, DAVE THORNTON helped one owner solve the problem. Recently, a charter boat skipper that I do a lot of work for told me he wanted to addan auto pilot, plus radar to his boat to suit fishing for southern bluefin tuna off the SW Victorian coast. At times, the visibility can be very poor in this area with storms or sea fogs so this can restrict fishing opportunity. This got us talking aboutthe various electronic options available to him. With a 9.1m aluminium walk-around boat you'd think he'd have plenty of space for new electrics, however, like many modern boats the dash space around the helm dash was already crowded and fitting new screens and controls was not easy.
