Determination of patulin in fruit juices and compote of apple and pear

摘要

Patulin is a mycotoxin that is produced by Penicillium, Aspergillus and Byssochlamys. This toxin is found in fruits juice. In this study, 32 samples of fruit juice and apple and pear compotes were randomly collected at supermarkets in Mazandaran, in spring 2012. High performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) method was applied to measure patulin. Of the 8 apple juice samples 37.5% were contaminated with >50g/L and 62.5% were contaminated with <50g/L. 12.5% of pear juices samples was contaminated with <50g/L. In compote of apple samples 12.5% was contaminated with <50g/L and none of the compote of pear samples were contaminated with this toxin.
