New challenges from an 'old' toxin

摘要

This monographic issue of Toxicon has been aimed to gather original and review articles providing a comprehensive update of chemical characteristics, biological origins and actions of palytoxin-group compounds. This collection of papers is intended neither to provide exhaustive answers to complex questions, nor to give ultimate solutions to sensitive matter. In turn, the contributions and Authors have been identified to address both established facts and unsettled issues The major aims of this collection of papers are to provide interested readers with critical presentations of existing data, and support further studies as well as new insights onto palytoxin-group toxins and the organisms producing them.
