The author studied the process of sorption of fluorine ions from model solutions and natural water (pH = 6.4-6.6) by electrogenerated aluminum hydroxide, depending on the content of humic acids. The presence of humic acids decreases sorption of fluorine ions on electrogenerated aluminum hydroxide. It is shown that for defluorination of groundwaters with low content of fluorine ions (up to 5mg/liter) with simultaneous removal of humic acids it is necessary to increase the amount of electrogenerated aluminum ions by as much as 39-41 percent, while for defluorination of groundwaters containing more than 5 mg/liter of fluorine ions the additional amount of aluminum ions reaches 18 percent or more.
