The Raw Materials Index (RMI) is one of the best known publications produced by SCAA. Since it was originally released at the 4th Annual Conference in Victor Harbour, South Australia in 1962, it has undergone several evolutions to its present form,and currently includes over 14,000 entries.The current edition, the 8th, departed from the traditional bound format to a loose leaf version for the express purpose of enabling updates to be more readily applied. Whilstsome updates have been produced, the RMI still contains many obsolete entries,mostly due to company closures, mergers or takeovers. Raw material lifecycles and developments have also contributed to the less than current status of the RMI.
