Bill was born in the Netherlands. He migrated to Australia and joined ICIANZ, initially at the leathercloth plant at Deer Park in the 50's. He was part of the ICIANZ team that spent 6 months at ICI UK Pigment Division's Blackley and Grangemouth Works in 1960 in preparation for the establishment of the Laverton Pigments plant, where Bill became Plant Colourist during the 60's. Later he was associated with ICIANZ Central Research Labs at Ascot Vale, where he was Pigments Lab Manager. During his association with pigments, Bill was the inventor, or co-inventor of 10 patents.
