I thank the organising committee for extending the invitation to me to make this presentation.I can say that I feel honoured,and even somewhat overwhelmed.The committee suggested that in my long membership of the Association I'd always had a lot to say about most aspects of its operation.Having been a member since 1956 I suppose I must be considered as one of the "old coots" still hanging around.On the other hand,I hope I do not think like an "old coot" in the same way as some of our older (and not so old) members think.I am sure some of the remarks that I intend to make will upset some individuals.
