Andrew Hall advises on what to look out for when buying a 135. Introduced in late 1964 for sale the following year, the Massey Ferguson 135 followed the company's highly-successful 35X. The mid-1960s saw most of the major tractor manufacturers introducing new models with styling to suit the times; they broke away from the curved lines carried over from the 1940s and produced models with more square-cut lines. The tractors in MF's 100 series had a whole new look about them, but mechanically were similar in build to the previous tractors. By far the most popular model, the 135, became a much sought-after workhorse with plenty of power and good manoeuvrability, making it a hit from the start.
