Analysis of the Respirogram of Gyorugi Athletes Compared to Nonathletes for Healthy Science Research

The purpose of this study was to evaluate physical characteristics by comparing the respirograms of taekwondo gyorugi (TKDG) athletes to those of non-athletes for the study of healthy science. Pulmonary function was measured using spirometry in both theTKDG athletes and nonathletes while they were in a sitting position. In respirogram phasic analysis, the inspiratory area of forced vital capacity were significantly decreased in the TKDG athletes compared with the nonathletes. However, the slopes of theforced vital capacity for TKDG athletes at slopes 1 and 2 of the A area, and 1 of the B area were significantly higher than in the nonathletes. In correlative analysis, chest circumference was significantly correlated with slope 1 of the A area of the forced vital capacity. These results suggest that differences in respirogram phasic changes between TKDG athletes and nonathletes may in part contribute to better understanding of pulmonary function, which is important to healthy science research.
