摘要

The status and trends in the developments of naval steels are briefly outlined. A simpler alloy design approach for new Ultra Low Carbon Bainitic (ULCB) steels for naval applications is presented. This paper presents transmission electron microscopic studies and the basic mechanical test results for two such ULCB steels in the as rolled condition. A simple hot rolling schedule was used to produce a refined microstructure. The steels are typically granular bainitic. The yield strength is energy values are 70-80 J at-mechanical properties are discussed in terms of the known features of bainite and the chemistry.
