摘要

The conservation of energy is an essential step towards overcoming the mounting problems of the worldwide energy crisis and environmental degradation. However, only limited information sources on the rational use of energy are being practised in different industries. It is known that for some energy intensive industries, savings up to 10 percent can be achieved through basic housekeeping activities, such as auditing and energy management. In the ceramic industry, energy costs are known to account for more than 30 percent of the total production cost. And there are many common as well as innovative ways of saving / conserving appreciable amounts of energy like preventing of leakage in the kilns, controlled combustion, modifying the equipment to recover heat from thekiln in the process of ceramic firing, etc.
