A new Ni-Cr-Fe-Al alloy has been shown to exhibit better overall resistance to metal dusting than any other alloy tested, as confirmed by over 15,000 hours of testing in the laboratory in additional to several thousand hours of in-situ testing in syngas environments. The laboratory results have substantiated the desirability of a nickel alloy matrix as well as certain alloying additions which promote formation of a protective oxide scale. General corrosion, mechanical and physical properties and weldability results for this new alloy are discussed.
