摘要

In the present study, an attempt has been made to recover autoclave heat by exploiting the pyrite oxidation in presence of sodium carbonate during alkali leaching of lean grade uranium ore. From the studies it was observed that feed to the auto calve contains about 1.6 % pyrite and heat evolved during the exothermic reaction was controlled by modification of heat recovery circuit. From this modification, it was possible to maintain a self-sustaining temperature at 140 A degrees C in the autoclave without any external heating.
