BRUCE DREWETT: Leading Growth

Bruce Drewett, the incoming president of the Canadian Paraplegic Association, brings new impetus to the job. In his mid forties, he lives in Mississauga and drives a Dodge Charger. He loves sport, especially playing tennis and basket-ball, and has never skied but looks forward to doing so in the near future. Paraplegia has always been part of Bruce's life. He was born with Spina Bifida, a condition in which the spine does not properly close. "The net effect is that I have never had the ability to walk unassisted at all and therefore using a chair is natural for me, my life experience. People have paraplegia for a variety of reasons related to both injury and condition. The CPA is not only for people who have experienced a vehicle accident or gunshot wound. That is one of the diversities within our disability."
