MARLIN STYNER: From CPA Alberta to Chair of the Premier's Council...

Marlin Styner has become a true champion for accessibility and awareness for people with disabilities. Since August 1999, he was a key member of the CPA Alberta team. On July 9, 2008, he was appointed chair of the Alberta Premier's Council on the Status of Persons with Disabilities, after serving as a member of that Council since 2005. Marlin pulled double duty working both positions until the end of September, at which point he left CPA to focus full energy on the work of the Premier's Council. A resident of Red Deer, he has volunteered and worked in the disability community since his injury in 1981. That includes serving as a member of the Canadian Paraplegic Association Advocacy Committee, the provincial Barrier-Free Transportation Committee, the Spinal Cord Injury Collaboration Initiative, the Advisory Committee on Accessible Transportation (National), the Alberta Disability Coalition, and the Rick Hansen Foundation - one huge amount of meeting time.
