The focus of the quality management system,over the years, has shifted from product quality toprocess quality, or in other words, from ‘inspectionto prevention' The results of this changeover, areencouraging. Product Quality index (PQI), a new conceptintroduced to gauge the quality level of the productsinternally, has been discussed.
