China market: Cat's big dig: Caterpillar's long history in China is enhanced with the opening of a new parts distribution center in Shanghai

As kids, we all talked about "digging all the way to China." Today, Caterpillar Inc. is actually doing that with its outreach to the leviathan market. Caterpillar's subsidiary Caterpillar Logistics Services has opened a new parts distribution center in the Lingang Industrial Area in Shanghai, China. The distribution center is currently providing parts for Caterpillar dealers in China, with plans to expand parts distribution from the location to dealers in Korea and Mongolia by the end of 2006.
