THE Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) is calling for Alistair Darling to support a reduction in VAT on the refurbishment of homes and energy-efficient goods.The RIBA has been campaigning for VAT rates on new build and refurbishment to be harmonised at a level of 5%, and is a member of the Cut the VAT Coalition. Gordon Brown supported the Cut in VAT at the European Council meeting in December and the RIBA is now calling for Alistair Darling to do so at an Ecofin Council meeting.
