Solid surfacing is the material success story of the last decade. Loved by designers and consumers alike, the material has earned itself desirable status in domestic, commercial, contract and leisure applications. In the kitchen sector alone, the material now accounts for an estimated 16% of market share, reflecting the huge shift in the amount of money consumers are prepare to spend on their surfaces in relation to the budget - up to a mammoth 55% in the last five years. What makes solid surfacing so appealing is its successful combination of aesthetic and functional qualities. Unlike other materials, it can be invisibly jointed, offering nothing but a seamless surface that can flow between worksurface, upstands, splashbacks and slab ends on island units.
