摘要

A model is proposed in this study for the removal of pinholes from the molten glaze of a ceramic tile. Considering viscous flow as the mass transfer mechanism, it is mathematically shown that the time required for pinhole removal is dependent on the ratio of mu/sigma (mu = viscosity, sigma= surface tension of glaze). From the known value of mu/s ratio, pinhole formation can be minimized by optimising time and temperature during the heating process. The study discusses the mechanism of pinhole formation and proposes a model for pinhole removal.
