The Tronox/Anadarko litigation has finally ended and, perhaps surprisingly, it seems that all parties are reasonably pleased with the outcome! On 3 April 2014, Anadarko declared that it had agreed with the plaintiffs in the Tronox Adversary Proceeding to pay a total of $ US 5.15 billion in exchange for a complete release of all claims asserted against its subsidiary Kerr-McGee. The Tronox Adversary Proceeding (a.k.a. lawsuit) had been originally filed with the US Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of New York, Manhattan on 12 May 2009. The case was assigned the reference 09-ap-01198 and it came within the remit of Judge Allan Gropper, who was already dealing with Tronox Inc.'s case for Chapter 11 protection, filed on 12 January 2009 with the case reference 09-bk-10156.
