TSA's smelter at Empangeni currently has two furnaces,providing a total capacity of 250,000 t.p.a.of TiO_2 slag,with a current ratio of 85% chlorinatable,15% sulfatable (fines).The company had an outline plan to install two more furnaces here,bringing total slag capacity up to 500,000 t.p.a.However,this plan will no doubt come under close scrutiny following the envisaged amalgamation with Namakwa.
