INDIA:Tata Signs New MoU with Tamil Nadu Govt,for Sands-to-Pigment Project

The Tata Steel group recently signed a new memorandum of understanding with the Tamil Nadu provincial government in respect of its integrated sands-to-TiO2 pigment project.The total value of the project was reported as InRp 25 billion (equivalent to US 620 million) and it will entail the establishment of facilities for mining 500,000 t.p.a.of ilmenite,for conversion of the ilmenite to synrutile and for the production of 100,000 t.p.a.of chloride-route TiO2 pigment.
