A mong the many industry veterans who died this year were three icons of tire retail,retreading and racing industries.Les Schwab,89,who founded one of the nation's largest independent tire dealerships,died May 18.He started Les Schwab Tire Centers Inc.in 1952 and built the Prineville,Ore.-based business into a chain of more than 410 company-owned and associate stores throughout seven western states and Alaska.
