Inflammatory proptosis in Rosai-Dorfman disease simulating thyroid-associated ophthalmopathy.

Rosai-Dorfman disease is also known as sinus histiocytosis with massive lymphadenopathy. It commonly presents as painless bilateral lymph node enlargement in the neck. Rarely there is soft tissue involvement. Extranodal cases occur in up to 25% of the cases (1-4). Here we describe bilateral proptosis and periorbital edema in a patient. To our knowledge this is the first patient with Rosai-Dorfman disease simulating Graves' opthalmopathy.
