Examination on the influence of an early Mycoplasma vaccination with Stellamune (R) One concerning the mortality rate of suckling piglets in a Cl. perfringens infected piglet producing farm

The influence of an early Mycoplasma vaccination on the morbidity and mortality of suckling piglets was examined on a farm with 7000 sows. The piglets of this farm suffer from a Cl. perfringens caused diarrhoea. The aim of this examination was to find out, if the early vaccination with Stellamune (R) One (Pfizer stresses the piglets and could lead to the manifestation of additional infections. In this examination 14 groups of 4865 litters (approx. 60,000 piglets) have been included. The results demonstrate that the early Mycoplasma vaccination with Stellamune (R) One didn't influence the morbidity of suckling piglets nor activated other infections. Furthermore, the results show that the mortality of the piglets which have been vaccinated with Stellamune (R) One was 1% lower and the number of weaned piglets was 0.15 piglet/litter higher than in the unvaccinated group.
