Peritoneal dialysis-related peritonitis caused by vancomycin-resistant Enterococcus faecium.

To the Editor,In the last two decades, vancomycin-resistant enterococcus (VRE) has spread throughout the world to become one of major causes of nosocomial infections (1). The occurrence of VRE colonization and infection has increased dramatically (2). It has been reported that infections caused by VRE are associated with longer hospitalization and increased mortality (3). In this paper, we present a patient with continuous ambulatory peritoneal dialysis (CAPD) peritonitis caused by VRE.
